Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, Philadelphia, PA
Founded: Founded as an independent branch of Grey Nuns originally founded by Marie Marguerite d'Youville in 1738.
Purposes: Self-sanctification through observance of the rule and constitutions. Also, education of youth, and the care of sick, poor and orphans.
Habit: Sand color habit with black gauze coif, black cape, veil and cincture. A silver cross is also worn (Source 1, page 123). Some branches of the Grey Nuns were known to have worn blue gingham underskirts as part of their official habit.
