Poor Handmaids of Jesus (The Ancilli Domini Sisters)

Founded:    1851 by Catherine Kasper and companions

Purposes:   Serving the poor, sick, unfortunate and children in hospitals and schools.  Sisters also do domestic work for religious institutions.

Habit:   Black serge habit with pleats, a black cincture around the waist from which hangs a rosary, a black veil pinned to a starched white coronet that buttons below the chin and a white linen collar (Source 1, page 2).
